How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
Anti-wrinkle injections are made up of natural proteins and act like muscle relaxants; they block the receptors that the brain sends to the muscles telling them to contract. Therefore, the injections relax the muscles and reduce their activity, and prevent the skin from wrinkling.
Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?
The injections feel like a slight pinch, and you may experience slight pressure or a ‘stinging’ sensation as the product is being injected. Depending on your personal pain tolerance and on the area, we may apply or inject a local anaesthetic to the area.
When will I see results after my anti-wrinkle injections?
Once injected into a muscle, anti-wrinkle injections can take up to two weeks to take full effect depending on the brand and your anatomy.
Depending on the area and goal of treatment you may see a slimming effect or a reduction in lines/wrinkles.
If treating mentalis, you will see a reduction in chin wrinkles.
If treating the masseters for TMJ disorder, you will notice jaw slimming, reduction in pain and clenching.
Migraine treatment will vary from person to person and is dependant on the origin of the migraine.
